There’s no limit to how much money you can make. The limits are set only by you. It depends on how much time and effort you invest.

My downfall was that I didn’t learn the strategies and fundamentals of working online.

Success in affiliate marketing is a marathon, not a sprint. It takes knowledge, time, and commitment to start a business. Invest in yourself by joining a marketing community teeming with experts.

Again, the reason for this guide is that I want YOU to succeed too. This is a job that ANYONE can do as long as you get started in the right way.

Remember when I said, “Avoid those who say you can earn income while sleeping?” I, unfortunately, did not avoid those scams. I want to help you NOT make the mistake I already have. It never turned out to be a positive experience.

I got roped into a few scams, and my expectations were so high.

So what did I do when these programs did not deliver?

I got overwhelmed, defeated, and I quit.  

Looking back, I am amazed by how far I could have gotten if I had found Wealthy Affiliate at the start of my interest in marketing. I would not have thrown in the towel and quit. After quitting, I made my way back to affiliate marketing a little more than a year later. I started over.

This time the right way.

If I had started with Wealthy Affiliate and just kept going, I would have been so much further along.

Quitting puts you right back at the starting line and wastes a lot of your time and money.

You won’t need to quit if you get started the right way.

Like you, I have experienced frustration and doubt from the mass overload of information about getting started in affiliate marketing.

Expectations

You won’t see pictures of me with wads of cash. I live very comfortably in a condo that I own. I travel when I want, although the COVID-19 pandemic hasn’t allowed that lately, and I work when I want.

I am an affiliate marketer because I have the flexibility to do what I want when I want. I don’t have to ask a boss for permission to leave early to go to the doctor or any other important appointment. My schedule is mine and not what someone else dictates to me.

I am an affiliate marketer because I love being in an environment that allows for creativity. I’m not sure if you want to sit in an office cubicle all day and stare at the wall, but I don’t.

I’m able to work outside on my balcony when it is a beautiful sunny day. I can exercise in the middle of the day, take my dogs for a walk, or have my lunch at 1:30 pm instead of 12:00 pm.

So, no, I don’t have loads of cash to throw around. But I do have freedom and financial security where I don’t have to worry.

But it does not happen overnight.

The money did not roll in at first.

I’m telling you this because I want your expectations to be realistic. You may be tempted by people who claim their programs can have you start earning $1k a day within a week. Don’t take the bait. I know because I already did.

Don’t get sidetracked with those scams!

You will waste your time and money, and most likely, you will end up starting over…..getting frustrated…..and even quitting.

I want to show you a better way. Then, when you are ready, let’s start making one awesome website. (Don’t panic about building a website. It’s super easy. I’ll show you in a bit.)

The “Earn Money While You Sleep” programs are distractions. They undoubtedly will lead you down the “rabbit hole” and leave you feeling disappointed.

Let’s talk about how to get you going in a better direction. Let’s start there first.

The Basics of Making Money Online

Let me briefly take you through the process of how affiliate marketing works.

• You think of a topic that you’re interested in and has products you can review, recommend or talk about in some way
• You create a website around this topic
• You partner with affiliate programs (there are an abundance of programs and it is a simple process)
• You blog about your topic, give reviews, help people answer questions
• You insert your custom affiliate link in your blog
• Your readers click on your links and buy the items you recommend
• You earn a commission from the affiliate program

Companies need affiliate marketers because we have a positive impact on their sales numbers. People are already searching for the products that you will write about. You can give you a review of the product, and your reader can determine if that product is a good fit for them.

Then, you earn a commission for a product you believe in and truly enjoy writing about.

I would consider that a WIN for both your reader, you, and the company!

There are so many opportunities to earn money online through affiliate marketing.

Because there are 5.6 billion searches every day through Google, I haven’t even included other search engines like Bing and Yahoo.

Just the other day, I typed in “how to get ink out of a shirt.” I had an answer in mere seconds (and hairspray is the best method, in case you’re wondering). Once you know what people are searching for around your topic, you can be their solution to their problem.

Let me take you through the steps of how building a website works.

Choose a domain name. 

You can choose a FREE domain right through Wealthy Affiliate, or you can use a domain that you already own.
